Program Details

 

Sunday 05th March 

Arrival day; meet & greet and joint dinner.

 

Monday 06th March 

Theory (3 blocks for 3 hours split over day: morning, noon, afternoon) & JDA Stud Tour 

 

Tuesday 07th March

Morning:

SESSION I: Field Studies with Katarzyna - understand your surrounding and own equipment within context 

Afternoon:

SESSION II: This afternoon-evening session will be dedicated to a closer look at horses in motion. Our models of different coat colours will appear individually in different locations to study the advantages and disadvantages of different light directions and surrounding conditions.

 

Wednesday 08th March 

Morning:

CONSULATIONS: Preview of photos from the first session in motion, individual tips from Katarzyna to improve work on the equipment for further benefits.

Afternoon:

SESSION III: While studying horse portraiture, you will learn not only how to position a horse correctly, but also how to consciously break patterns and how to make good use of the nature around us to create interesting compositions.

Thursday 09th March 

Morning:

Early morning practise on offer 

Followed by Windhoek Town & Culture Tour on offer or take the day to relax or practise 

Friday 10th March

Morning:

SESSION IV: Creating frames filled with emotion or interaction between two horses is a challenge. During this session, Katarzyna will show you how to create story telling images.

Afternoon:

 Different JDA activities on offer: Guided hike, horsemanship lesson, bodywork lessons (horse connection) 

Night:

SESSION V: In order to push you out of your comfort zone, Katarzyna will take you on a journey to the world of light and shadow, where, under the cover of night, we will overcome our own photographic weaknesses.

 

Saturday 11th March 

Morning

SESSION VI - PART A Creating rhythmic and interesting captures with couples or groups of horses in motion is difficult. During this sunrise session, we will focus on perfecting these skills.

Afternoon:

SESSION VI - PART B Same session of practise for Sunset

 

Sunday 12th March 

Marula Conservation Park Day Safari on offer or spend the day to relax at your private pool enjoying the African birdlife and nature.

 

Monday 13th March 

Morning:

SESSION VII Classic elegance is equated to the portraits on a black background. Katarzyna will show you how to create them without owning a professional studio and how to use different directions of light in an interesting way.

Afternoon:

SESSION VIII On our last session we will take you to a unique location. This shooting will be a summary of all skills acquired during practical lessons. In this one-in-a-kind setup, Katarzyna will show you how to work with our equine models in an unknown places.

 

Tuesday 14th March

Post production Day

Part I REVIEW - Together, we will analyze the photos taken during your sessions and Katarzyna will answer all questions about further work on these images.

Part II POST-PRODUCTION CLASSES - During a few hours-long presentation of editing photos Katarzyna will show you, step by step, her favourite techniques and will share with you how to optimize your workflow

Evening:

Special stable dinner

Please remember that we are dealing with life animals in a natural environment so this timetable is a guideline and we might change schedule according to weather and stud dynamics during the workshop. 

Our limited number of maximum ten participants for this masterclass course ensures that the desired family character of the whole retreat stays alive and provides the opportunity for personal attention and questions.

Accommodation:

Our peaceful and modern shaped green village provides accomodation for you during your stay in one of our unique and light chalets; each room with private bathroom. Each chalet has a veranda with it's own mini pool. (See pictures below)

 

Meals:

Three meals provided by our talented chef on side are included as well as water, juice, tea, coffee - extra drinks are not included and on your own account.

Extra Week

You are welcome to book an extra week directly with us to learn how to truly connect with horses force-free by joining our horse connection course (horsemanship and inner calmness methods) or to learn horse riding the gentle way and to practise your newly gained photography skills with our huge variety of horses at stud.

Good to know

Visa:

You are entering Namibia on a Tourism Visa that you will get in form of a stamp at the airport when entering into the country

(Please note only Citizen of the People’s Republic of China will need to apply for an entry visa upfront).

 

Travel Vaccinations recommended for Namibia are Tetanus, Hepatitis and Typhus; as recommended in general for the whole of Africa. 

 

We are located in a no risk Malaria area so no worries about Malaria prophylaxes; definitely not needed unless you plan to travel from us further to the very North of the country to the Zambezi region.
